The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a 15-member India A squad for their upcoming tour of Australia. The tour, which commences on October 31, will feature two first-class matches against Australia A and a three-day intra-squad game against the senior Indian team.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been appointed as the captain of the India A team, with Abhimanyu Easwaran serving as his deputy. The selection committee has chosen these two players based on their impressive performances in recent domestic cricket.

Ishan Kishan makes a welcome return to the India A squad after a brief hiatus. The wicketkeeper-batter, known for his aggressive style, was previously dropped from the Indian team due to a lack of prioritization for domestic cricket. However, his recent performances have earned him a recall.

The India A squad boasts a strong batting lineup, with Devdutt Padikkal, Baba Indrajith, and Ricky Bhui forming a formidable middle order. Sai Sudharsan and Nitish Kumar Reddy add depth to the batting and bowling departments, respectively.

The fast-bowling attack is led by Mukesh Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Yash Dayal. Navdeep Saini and Manav Suthar provide additional options. Tanush Kotian has also been included in the squad.

The Australia tour offers a valuable opportunity for these young players to showcase their skills and potentially earn a place in the senior Indian team. With Rohit Sharma expected to miss the first two Tests against Australia, the India A matches could play a crucial role in determining the composition of the Test squad.
