Rohit Sharma Surpasses Virat Kohli in ICC ODI Rankings, Narrows Gap with Babar Azam; Shubman Gill Retains Top Spot

India's captain, Rohit Sharma, has surged to the third spot in the ICC Men's ODI Batting Rankings after a stellar performance in the ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand. With his impressive knock of 76 runs off 83 balls, Rohit leapfrogged Virat Kohli and South Africa's Heinrich Klaasen, moving up two places from his previous fifth position. His innings, which included some brilliant strokeplay during the powerplay, played a pivotal role in India's chase of 252 runs.


SHUBMAN GILL HOLDS ONTO NO. 1 SPOT, BABAR AZAM REMAINS SECOND

Shubman Gill continues to lead the rankings with 784 rating points, despite being dismissed in the final by a sensational catch from Glenn Phillips. Meanwhile, Pakistan's Babar Azam remains in the second position with 770 rating points, even though Pakistan struggled in the Champions Trophy. 


Rohit Sharma, now with 756 rating points, is only 14 points behind Babar Azam, narrowing the gap between them. Virat Kohli, who made a crucial 84 runs in the semi-final against Australia, dropped one spot to fifth with 736 points. 


SHREYAS IYER MAINTAINS SPOT IN TOP 10

India’s Shreyas Iyer, who was the highest run-scorer for his team in the Champions Trophy, holding 243 runs from five matches, retained his position at No. 8 in the ODI rankings.


KULDEEP YADAV AND RAVINDRA JADEJA MAKE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN 


BOWLER'S RANKINGS

In the bowlers' rankings, India’s Kuldeep Yadav saw a remarkable rise, jumping three spots to No. 3 after taking seven wickets during the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja also climbed three places to No. 10, thanks to his five-wicket haul in the Champions Trophy. 


NEW ZEALAND PLAYERS MAKE STRIDES IN THE ODI RANKINGS

Several New Zealand players saw significant movement in the ODI batting rankings. Daryl Mitchell moved up one spot to No. 6, while Rachin Ravindra made an impressive 14-place jump to No. 14. Glenn Phillips also gained six places, reaching No. 24. 


On the bowling side, New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner made substantial gains, rising six spots to No. 2 in the ODI rankings for bowlers after claiming nine wickets in the Champions Trophy, including two wickets in the final. Mahesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka remains the only player ahead of him.


AZMATULLAH OMARZAI RETAINS THE TOP SPOT AMONG ODI ALL-ROUNDERS

Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai continued to hold the top spot in the ODI all-rounder rankings. However, he faces growing competition from New Zealand’s trio of all-rounders. Mitchell Santner moved up to fourth, while both Bracewell and Ravindra made impressive jumps, climbing to seventh and eighth respectively.
