In a stunning turn of events, the West Indies defeated Pakistan by 120 runs on Day 3 of the second Test in Multan, clinching their first Test win in the country in 34 years. The visitors' victory was built around a brilliant bowling performance from Jomel Warrican, who claimed his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket, finishing with exceptional figures of 5/27 in 16 overs. His spin masterclass dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup, leading to a dramatic collapse early in the day.

With this victory, West Indies leveled the two-match series 1-1, after Pakistan had won the first Test by 127 runs.

PAK VS WI 2ND TEST DAY 3 HIGHLIGHTS

Pakistan resumed their chase of 254 on 76/4, with Saud Shakeel (13) and Kashif Ali at the crease. However, it didn’t take long for the West Indies to strike, as Kevin Sinclair sent Shakeel packing after just three balls, with the batter being caught at first slip. The very next over saw Jomel Warrican remove Kashif Ali for a duck, leaving Pakistan in deep trouble at 76/6.

The hosts had lost both overnight batters without adding a single run to the scoreboard, putting immense pressure on wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan. Rizwan, who had shown resilience in the first innings with a gritty 49, found support from Salman Agha. The two added 39 crucial runs for the seventh wicket, but the West Indies spinners, led by Warrican, continued to tighten the noose, creating constant pressure.

Warrican's persistence paid off when he trapped Agha (15) in front of the stumps, reducing Pakistan to 115/7. Despite the loss of wickets, Rizwan remained at the crease, offering a glimmer of hope for the hosts. However, that hope was dashed when Warrican dismissed Rizwan for 49, leaving Pakistan’s tail exposed with 132 runs still required to win.

PAKISTAN’S RESISTANCE FALTERS

With Rizwan’s departure, Pakistan’s last two batsmen, spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, were left to chase down the impossible target. However, the West Indies bowlers were relentless, and Gudakesh Motie dismissed Noman Ali, catching him at mid-off. Warrican then sealed the victory, bowling Sajid Khan out, leaving Pakistan all out for 133 and handing the West Indies a historic 120-run win.

WARRICAN’S OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE

Warrican’s match-winning performance earned him the Player of the Match award for his figures of 5/27, which contributed to his remarkable overall series performance. The left-arm spinner finished the series as the highest wicket-taker, with 19 wickets to his name, and also contributed with the bat, scoring 85 runs. His all-around performance earned him the Player of the Series accolade.

This victory marks a historic achievement for the West Indies, securing their first Test win in Pakistan since their triumph in Faisalabad in 1990 under the captaincy of Desmond Haynes.
