Kevin Pietersen Appointed as Delhi Capitals Team Mentor for IPL 2025 Season

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has been named as the team mentor for Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 season. Pietersen, who previously captained the franchise during the 2014 season when it was known as Delhi Daredevils, will be stepping into his first coaching role in the IPL.

PIETERSEN'S EXCITEMENT FOR THE NEW ROLE

Expressing his enthusiasm about rejoining the Delhi franchise, Pietersen said, "Representing Delhi in the IPL is a memory I will always cherish. My passion for the team has stayed strong, even as a broadcaster over the years. I’ve shared the field with Venu (Venugopal Rao) during the 2012 season, and I’m excited to reunite with him as we begin this new chapter together."

The former England batter also revealed his strong ties with the owners and fans of Delhi Capitals, saying, “I have a great relationship with the team’s owners and the DC fans, so when the opportunity arose, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. This is an exciting new challenge as a mentor, and I’m looking forward to working closely with the players to help us win that elusive IPL title."

DELHI CAPITALS' SQUAD REVAMP FOR IPL 2025

After finishing in sixth place last season, Delhi Capitals have made key additions to their squad ahead of IPL 2025. The team has strengthened its lineup with notable signings such as KL Rahul, Harry Brook, and Mitchell Starc. However, the franchise also made the tough decision to release Rishabh Pant. The retained players include Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Tristan Stubbs, and Abishek Porel.

DELHI CAPITALS' COACHING STAFF FOR IPL 2025

Pietersen joins a well-rounded coaching team that includes Hemang Badani as head coach, who was appointed in October 2024. The coaching staff also includes assistant coach Matthew Mott, bowling coach Munaf Patel, and the director of cricket, Venugopal Rao.
