A left-arm fast medium bowler, Rumman Raees missed the bus to the Asia Cup and World T20 in 2016 owing to an injury to his hamstring. Hailing from Karachi, Rumman started off by plying his trade with Karachi Blues and made his first-class debut in the year 2010. He then shifted loyalties to United Bank Limited and now plays for them. The PSL happened prior to the above mentioned mega events and Rumman Raees got a chance to rub shoulders with the best in the business. His performances despite not being earth shattering, were noticed by the selectors. He ended the tournament with 4 wickets from 8 games playing for the eventual champions Islamabad United but his economy rate of 6.79 meant he could put the batsman on a tight leash. His moment of reckoning came in September 2016, when we was picked for the 3-match T20I series against the Windies in the middle-east. He got his chance in the final T20I and bowled three miserly overs, conceding only 10 runs in his three overs. He continues to be a regular member of the Islamabad United franchise. It was only a matter of time before Raees was handed his ODI debut and that happened during the 2017 Champions Trophy in England. The young pacer was thrust into the action for the semifinal clash against tournament favorites England. Despite making his debut in such a pressure game, Raees impressed with a couple of scalps including the big wicket of the in-form Alex Hales. Although he didn't play in the final, Raees has thereafter been a permanent name in Pakistan's limited-overs squads.By Kumar Abhisekh Das
