Born in Sylhet, Rahatul Ferdous is an early-starer. The left-handed all-rounder took part in the Under-19 World Cup held in UAE alongside Mustafizur Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain in 2014. Ferdous made his first-class debut at the age of 19 representing his home team Sylhet Division. He had a good match personally. After an unbeaten 30 in the first essay batting down the order, he was promoted to No. 3 where he raised his maiden FC fifty scoring 55. He finished his debut season with averages of 40.14 and 27.66 with bat and ball respectively. Ferdous’s ability to contribute with both bat and ball will force the selectors to have an eye on him. If he can translate his talent into consistent performances at the domestic circuit, the call-up to play for the national team won’t be far away. By Abhinand Raghavendran
