Accidents in cricket are inevitable. Even though batsmen use all possible equipment and gear to avoid injuries, they’re not fully safe. Mbulelo Budaza was only 19 when he became a part of one such unfortunate accident. A nightmare that keeps coming back every now and then to haunt him. Playing in a local league match for University of Fort Hare against Old Selbornians, he bowled a bouncer against Darryn Randall and the batsman wasn't able to connect his pull shot. Soon after, he was struck on his head and immediately collapsed at the crease. The medical team tried their best to revive Randall but unfortunately they couldn't.Following this incident, Budaza went into trauma and was out of the game for a substantial period of time. The accident of Phillip Hughes also had an effect on the South African as it brought back all the awful memories of that accident with Randall. Hence, Budaza had to seek professional counseling from a psychologist to overcome that.In 2014, Mbulelo Budaza made his first-class debut against KwaZulu-Natal in a CSA Provincial Three-Day Competition at East London. His first first-class victim was Cameron Delport and that was the only wicket he got on his debut. Budaza's List-A debut was much worse than that as he went wicket-less and had a bowling economy rate in excess of 10 only in his first game. In March 2018, Budaza bagged his 50th first-class wicket and that came against the Easterns in the Sunfoil 3-Day Cup at Benoni. Budaza has good pace but his first-class bowling average is more than 40 and his strike-rate isn't that great as well. If Budaza works harder on his pace and variations, he has a good chance to improve his statistics and make a name for himself in South Africa's domestic circuit.ByNikhil Jadhav
