Someone who can rattle opposition batters with his mystery spin, Maheesh Theekshana has been a great find for Sri Lanka. He made his ODI debut against South Africa in 2021 and picked 4 wickets in the match. It was a fantastic ODI debut for the mystery spinner as Sri Lanka won by 78 runs. In the Qualifiers for World Cup 2023, Theekshana played a crucial role as the spinner claimed 21 wickets and he was one of the reasons for Sri Lanka's success in the tournament. Apart from ODIs, Theekshana also has an impressive record in the T20 format. He bowls in the powerplay and often has the ability to bowl crucial spells. If Sri Lanka are to challenge teams and come out on top in World Cup 2023, Theekshana needs to play a pivotal role in doing so. He has the experience of playing in Indian conditions being a part of Chennai Super Kings, hence it will be interesting to see his performance in the tournament.
