Product of the U-19 system, Vandiar is a dashing left-hand batsman and an occasional leg-spinner, who never really lived up to his talent despite amassing over 7000 runs in domestic cricket. He started off rising through various ranks of age-division cricket before elevating to the U-19 level. He made a mark for himself with an unbeaten 103 in his maiden outing in an unofficial Test against Bangladesh in 2008 and was subsequently included in the Proteas' U-19 squad for the World Cup. His real moment of recognition came when he finished as the leading run-getter of the tournament.Following a string of strong performances with the bat in first-class circuit, he was called-up for the South Africa A side in 2010. In 2011, he netted himself an IPL contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the next few years, he suffered a dip in his form and his career hit a roadblock.
