At 6 feet 5 inches, Jamie Overton was once considered as a special talent. Quicker and more prone to injury compared to his twin brother Chris, Jamie was on the radar of the English selectors ever since he made his first-class debut. He represented England in the 2012 Under-19 World Cup. Born in Devon, he graduated through various age group levels playing for Devon. Somerset CC took good care of the gangling pacer and Jamie was picked up by the England under-19 team for the 2012 World Cup. He played in 3 games and picked up 3 wickets. At the end of 2013, Jamie was called up for the England team to play against Australia but did not get a game. In 2015, the Overton brothers were called up for an ODI series New Zealand but neither of them got a game. Injuries plagued Jamie and were a major hinderance in his quest to get an international cap. While his brother Craig made his international debuts in the limited-overs formats in 2017, Jamie had to wait 5 more years when he finally made his Test debut against New Zealand in 2022. After starting his domestic career off with Somerset, Jamie played for both Northamptonshire and Surrey on loan. Jamie was a part of the Surrey team that won the County Championship in 2022. He was a part of the Manchester Originals in The Hundred and was also the player of the tournament in 2023 edition. In 2023, he was signed by the Adelaide Strikers.
