Al-Amin Hossain is a right-arm medium fast bowler, who plays for Khulna Division in the domestic competition. He played for Barisal Burners in the Bangladesh Premier League. He made his First-Class debut for Khulna in 2011 against Dhaka Division at Jessore. He made a strong start when he took 12 wickets for Khulna as they crushed Chittagong by eight wickets. He took figures of 9 for 58, helping Khulna start off the second phase of the National League with an eight-wicket win over Rajshahi, in a low-scoring encounter that lasted just two days at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah. In 2012, he was picked for Bangladesh 'A' squad to play against England Lions. In the first unofficial ODI he took the wickets of Joe Root, James Taylor and James Vince as England Lions where reduced to 38 for 4. In 2013, he took 6 for 16 for Abahani Limited as they rolled over Cricket Coaching School team for a paltry 35 to record a thumping 212-run win in the Dhaka Premier League. He was at his menacing best as he picked up all the top five batsmen inside the first 11 overs. When New Zealand toured Bangladesh in October 2013, he made his Test debut in the second game in Mirpur. He had a quiet series at home against Sri Lanka, where he featured in two Tests and a lone ODI. Al-Amin played only two games in the Asia Cup, 2014. He was Bangladesh's highest wicket-taker in the ODI series in the West Indies in August 2014. In September 2014, Al-Amin's bowling action was reported during a Test against West Indies. However, he was cleared to continue bowling in international cricket by the ICC after an independent test in Chennai found his action to be legal. He was handed a national contract by the BCB in January 2015. The pacer remodeled his action and found a place in the Bangladesh's squad for the 2015 World cup. The tournament turned out to be a damp squib for Al-Amin after he was sent home mid-way through the mega event for breaking the team curfew. BCB carried out an investigation into the incident and it was found that all allegations against him were false. Things went from bad to worse for Al-Amin during the 2016 edition of Bangladesh Premier League when he along with Sabbir Rahman were handed hefty fines for disciplinary reasons. This saw him lose his place from the national side; he now plies his trade in the domestic circuit. Chittagong Vikings usurped the lanky pacer in the BPL 2017 draft. In recent years, Al-Amin has been largely in and out of the National side, and has been away from the ODI format since late 2015. By Sriram AS
